THE MARQUEE

Synopsis
Taking inspiration from recent documentaries such as Amy, Senna and Sonic Highways, the story we want to tell is a fresh, edgy take on music documentaries which will move a new generation, as well as offer a sense of rediscovery for an older generation. This is not a talking heads piece to camera about "the good old days", but rather a non-linear, audio-visual experience of explosive moments in its own timeframe.

The Marquee was a platform for artists much like Youtube is now, which offered a 360 degree experience for the senses. Those who went there found a piece of themselves and were defined by what they experienced. Not many venues can claim to have played a part of launching the careers of iconic and influential artists like David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton with Cream, Jimmy Page with Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, Peter Green with Fleetwood Mac and of course The Who, having been the first band to have had a residency there. These are iconic artists who to this day have inspired music across the globe. Artists who have played there include Jimi Hendrix, Oasis, Coldplay, The Small Faces, The Rolling Stones, The Jam, The Who, Phil Collins and even Wham!
